When we lost my grandad, my mum used some of her inheritance to buy a new caravan for the whole family to gather in and enjoy together. She named it Forget Me Not Bob - a lovely tribute to a clever, generous, and sharp witted man who was such a big part of her and my auntie’s lives. Having this new space gives all of us, from his daughters down to his great grandchildren, a sweet way to keep his memory present as we make new memories on the road.
When my mum mentioned needing dishes for our trips away, off the shelf crockery just didn't feel right. I wanted to design a custom enamelware set that felt personal to our family, built to handle years of travel, and held a gentle nod to Grandad Bob at the center of every meal.
A Meaningful Design: Forget Me Nots & Bluebells
When sitting down to design the artwork, every element had a special purpose:
Forget Me Nots: These delicate flowers offer a sweet symbol of remembrance after a loss, making them a thoughtful centerpiece for the design.
Bluebells: Tucked right underneath the forget me nots are trailing bluebells - his absolute favourite flower.
Combining both blooms into a custom emblem meant every piece in the set carried a subtle connection to him. Once the design was ready, Sam and I laser engraved a complete matching collection in our workshop, including mugs, bowls, side plates, dinner plates, serving platters, and tumblers.
Picture the Caravan Breakfasts
Caravan meals hit different, and our enamelware is made for the messy, brilliant reality of family trips. Picture the morning stretch in the awning, the kettle whistling on the stove, and deep serving dishes piled high with mountains of bacon and sausages ready for everyone to dig in.
